Here It Comes!

From the Bob Barker Studio at CBS in Haaaalywood...

How disappointing to be a TV star and find yourself turning to free blogger software to get your word out. I even have a friend I've already paid to build a website for me, but it all seems like such a huge pain. This took me 5 minutes and I didn't have to call anyone for help. I might not ever change the background either. I've got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, so I think I'm good in the "notice me" department. For now ;)

I just need a spot to blog, that's all. I could use the Price Is Right page at CBS.com, but then I'd get stuck writing about just The Price Is Right. Same for the available-just-a-few-short-months-from-now-we-promise-from-two-years-ago PriceIsRight.com. (Honestly. It was up for a while, now static, and... available soon! We're announcing it during the show we're taping Monday. Airs in September. So here's hoping.)

When PriceIsRight.com is up and running for real (it really is nothing much more than a placeholder now, not worth linking to) I'll copy my TPIR-related blogs to it. Promise. And, I'll answer questions on their "dynamic message board" and make use of all the other groovy doo-dads that they are supposed to be loading it down with. Don't know what all, since no one has heard from them since the meeting. (The guy who promised to keep me updated on the wiki even called me Bro, I think.)

But meanwhile, get your first-hand TPIR word here. I'm also a minority owner of the Seattle Sounders FC, a soccer team that plays in MLS, the top pro league in the United States. I'll blog about that. I host a once-a-month radio show on Little Steven's Underground Garage (Sirius 25 and XM 59). I'll blog about that. I work with the Reason Foundation on their video projects. I'll blog about that. And, I have the coolest, smartest, funniest friends in the world. I'll blog about them. Stand-up career, improv shows, all of it. Consider it blogged. (And tweeted, while I'm at it.)

And maybe one day, when I'm sick of plain old free blogger software and the basic templates that came with it, I'll call my friend and really go all Huffington Post/WorldNetDaily on everyone. But don't hold your breath.

Thanks for Coming On Down. :)

  5. Hey Drew!

I really get a kick out of TPIR every day, and it's great to have you tweeting and blogging, too! Oh, and I kinda like your "minimalist" approach here - the main this is that if you have fun with it, we will too, eh?

    Take care & "see" you Monday @ 10am :)

  6. Eh? Stick with the free blogger....who cares. Especially while you're learning it.

I'm on Typepad and pay $8.95 a month. Not a lot of money, but I probably don't do much more with in than I would if I had blogger.

  15. Hi Drew! Price watcher from Jersey. Can you reset your Twitter widget on your main blog page? I accidentally inserted my Twitter account username thinking I was still logged into my Twitter site.

Sorry. Sincere apologies. (And you're welcome to follow me, if you wish. :-) @yougotsanford.)

  20. Hi Drew! (I call you Drew, and not Mr. Carey, cause I'm some random dude on the Intertubes, and that means we're f*cking PEEPS like that, yo!)

Blogspot is perfectly fine. You don't need to know how to assemble a car in order to drive, you just need to put the key in and it goes. That's what Blogspot is. Nobody cares if you have your own domain, or a really super tricked out (is it "tricked out"? Does that phrase even apply to web design?) blog. We're here for the content, for YOUR content. Screw Marshall Mcluhan, the *message* is the message.

Anyway, fan since the Drew Carey Show, and tweep of yours, and will check out this here blog from time to time. And, please, more big dick jokes, k? Here's a couple to start it off:

My dick is so big, Frank Herbert took one look at it and wrote Dune.

My dick is so big, it takes 9 hookers working in shifts just to get me off.

  22. Drew! Really medium fan! I loved you in Coneheads!

What? They can't ALL say "Biggest fan" now can they?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh, and just to keep in the mood-

"My dick is so big I can beat dead horses with it! In fact I just did!"

"My dick is so big it insists I call it Richard"

"My dick is so big it was Barack Obama's running mate!"

My dick is so big it's divided into four .rar files:
    Head of my dick.rar
    shaft of my dick.rar
    base of my dick.rar
    and
    My balls.rar"

    ReplyDelete
  24. Wait, did you already do the "richard" bit? Sorry.

  25. Welcome to the blogosphere, Drew. I look forward to future posts. (Not that this one wasn't a humdinger in itself.)

  26. I'm proud of you for just doing it, not waiting until everything is "perfect".

  27. Glad you just want to speak and not worry about all "show" to make it pretty...Happy Late Father's Day too! Cute kid!

  28. I have only been on this site since earlier this year and I love it. I'm not a big blogger myself, more of an online journal for me, but I love that you've embraced as much as you have thusfar. A blog is just more icing on an already iced cake. Thanks for sharing, Drew. I've always been a fan of you. Such a stand-up guy, and I don't mean just comedy. Blog on!

  29. "My dick is so big"...

I won't even tell the whole joke, but the punchline is "Sam's Delicatessen open 10 to 9 daily try our blue plate special free refills we deliver".

  30. Drew, welcome to the blogoverse. I read your post immediately following this, about how Mike Richards has put his own stamp on "The Price is Right". There have been some pretty good changes to the show this season. And at least one pie fight involving models. I'm anxious to see what next season brings. Keep up the good work. You're on my blogroll.

  31. Hello Drew, this is John from Corpus Christi, TX.

I have to tell you that what really bothers me is that there were certain people on a certain site called "Golden-Road" (heretofore referred to as "G-R") that won't give you a fair chance at hosting "The Price is Right." That's why G-R ain't much of a fun place to read anymore. I remember my very first taping with Bob Barker in 2007, and I told Chuck (who was a CBS page back then) specifically that I was a member of Golden-Road. What happened then? Chuck simply said, "It's so good to see you. Welcome to CBS; I know you're gonna have a good time here." Back in those days, it was so awesome to mention G-R within earshot of ANYONE.

That was then. Flash forward to 2009, and now G-R isn't exactly cool right now. It had to be this way because there's quite a few people on here that were unwilling to give you a fair shake at all. My one goal is to get to "come on down" to Contestant's Row and help make places like G-R fun to give shout-outs to when you hand me the mike during a Showcase Showdown.

Drew, I have to say that you have done so much to turn a grand icon such as "The Price is Right" and make it into your own institution; hell, with the newer prizes, the show has become unpredictable again unlike in previous seasons. Right now, I am so damn happy to hear that you will help to usher in Season 38 of this grand American icon when the premiere airs in September, and I will be honored to be able to watch it along with the rest of the nation.

When 2010 rolls around, expect to see me at more tapings because I care about Drew, Rich, the models, and the staff so much; I am willing to fork over my student loans every year just for the chance to win something nice.

  32. Drew Carey,

I know that in the past you have been a huge supporter of Ohio Libraries and we appreciate everything you have done for us! I am writing because I thought you might want to know that Ohio libraries are in trouble. The Governor has proposed to cut library funding by 50% effective July 1st. Currently efforts are underway to stop the proposed budget from being approved. If you go to saveohiolibraries.com you can see what is going on right now. We have a week to fight it. I hope all is well with you! Congrats on "The Price Is Right" job! You are awesome!

    Thanks,

  33. Hi, Drew,

Welcome to the world of blogging! I started my first blog about three and a half years ago, and now I have over a dozen old-school pop culture (well, okay, old-school geek) blogs, with fresh material every day of the week!

Like you, I'm all on Blogger, and I've been learning as I go, too -- but I'd be happy to offer to help you out with any questions you have about using Blogger that I can!

I learned of your blog thanks to Mark Evanier's wonderful "News From Me" blog, and I'll be making your blog yet another of my daily destinations!

    Jon

  34. Welcome, Drew! I'm another fan who learned of your online scribblings from Evanier's excellent newsfromme.com ... I had to give your blog a shout-out over here (hope you don't mind the photo swipe):

Ahhh, and thanks to the commenters for the dick jokes; it's been a while since I read Dirty Jokes & Beer and forgot about those!

(By the way, my dick's so big, it received $17.4 billion in TARP funding.)

Welcome to the blogosphere (stupid word) and the Twitterverse (stupider word) ... glad you're here!

  35. Nice to see you enter the blogosphere.

Looking forward to your Sounders observations, since I'm not so sure we have any actual fans owning clubs over here atm!
